In my recent work I have studied the themes of disappearing and being disappeared as well as losing and being lost. The pictures I’ve created observe the experience of invisibility, the mist and the darkness, or a strange, dreamlike light. When what we see is not obvious, the essence of that moment in question starts to picture itself in our minds as an atmosphere, as a dream- or memorylike experience, becoming a representation of the things that lie in between the conscious and unconscious. The things we are unable to express with our conscious mind still often holds a great significance to us.

In my paintings I have created multiple, thin layers of colours. The figurative motifs in my paintings are often suggestive proposing the viewer some kind of sight or landscape. The multiple layers of colours produce an intense colour, a surface resembling black. The darkness I am trying to understand is not absolute, absorbing all luminance, but more of a space where the impression of light through its absence leads the colours to darkness, towards a space that we recognize as dark or black.

In my video I approach the idea of light and its luminant whiteness revealing the media from the same point of view that of the blackness of my paintings. The blurry whiteness indicates to a movement and action without defining it too strictly, leaving the viewer a space to interpret the installation for her own point of view.
